1 · Describe your working day as it actually is — not the official version. Where does your time really go?
Speccing, building, outreach, household — four currents, never in clean blocks. The official version would say I design tools. The actual hours go to three things nobody accounts for: tending versions in the vault so the record stays honest; re-explaining LOFL to people who assume it's a product for sale rather than a grammar to carry; and the slow work of coordinating with educators, whose days are even less their own than mine. Most of my unaccounted time is translation time.
2 · In which language do you think when solving a work problem — and where does meaning get lost when you must cross into another?
I think across the seams. My specifications are in English — the language of the technical commons I build on — but the concepts are named in Marathi and Sanskrit (sāṃvāda, adhikāra, angootha chaap), because English names arrive carrying someone else's assumptions. What crosses badly: warmth and obligation. पडताळणी done by someone who knows you is not the same act as "verification."
3 · When was the last time a technology introduced to your work made it harder? What happened to it?
A container-networking toolchain I adopted for LOFL's own services because it was impressive. It made everything slower and more fragile. I filed a formal decision record demoting it to the one narrow job it's good at, and rebuilt on the plainest stack that works. The lesson is now a filter: impressiveness is a cost, not a feature.
4 · What have you deliberately refused to use AI for, and why? Refusal counts as skill here, not deficiency.
Four standing refusals, filed as rules, not preferences: no AI-generated art in anything LOFL ships — human hands or nothing. No AI-written Marathi published without a native ear tuning it. No AI scoring of human beings, ever — we trace contributions, we never rank contributors. And no AI signing or approving anything: agents propose, policy decides, a human presses the mark.
5 · Which part of your work must remain human at any cost — and which would you gladly hand over tomorrow?
Protect at any cost: the witnessing — the moment one human attests to another's work. Automate that and you've automated the trust away. Hand over gladly: formatting, transcription, translation drafts, boilerplate — the clerical sediment that buries teachers and founders alike.
